All I can say is "wow."

The 9/12 rally happened this weekend and if there was any question on where America stands right now, I think images from Washington, D.C., on Saturday should help answer them.

Estimates on the crowd size range from London's Daily Mail report of over 1 million, all the way to the obligatory "tens of thousands" lowball. Whatever the actual number, it doesn't matter — the turnout was absolutely astonishing.

According to The Daily Mail, the White House was shocked by the size of the crowd. What I found shocking was the arrogance and the choice of words that White House senior adviser David Axelrod chose to describe the rally:

It's Saturday, September 12th. Friday was the eighth anniversary commemorating September 11, 2001. In the spirit of 9/12, the day after the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history — when even French newspapers proclaimed: "We're all Americans" — we were united.
