All I can say is "wow."

The 9/12 rally happened this weekend and if there was any question on where America stands right now, I think images from Washington, D.C., on Saturday should help answer them.

Estimates on the crowd size range from London's Daily Mail report of over 1 million, all the way to the obligatory "tens of thousands" lowball. Whatever the actual number, it doesn't matter — the turnout was absolutely astonishing.

According to The Daily Mail, the White House was shocked by the size of the crowd. What I found shocking was the arrogance and the choice of words that White House senior adviser David Axelrod chose to describe the rally:

For better or worse, we have new Washington leadership and a new direction for America.

It's a softer and relational Washington, with whom international bonds are more important than national borders and boundaries. It's a more secular Washington, which says that the country is no longer a "Christian nation." It's a more liberal Washington, which has enacted more Left-leaning legislation in its first year than any previous administration. It's a more generous Washington, from whom handouts, bailouts and borrowing are granted and given at record-breaking political speed.

But my greatest concern, I must confess, is that it's a kinder and gentler Washington, to whom the global war on terror has turned into an "Overseas Contingency Operation."

9/14/09: You Lie, Indeed, by Barbara Simpson

Cheers to Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., for having the courage, in reality, the guts, to call Barack Obama what he is – a liar.

Wilson's two words – "You lie" – came during the president's speech to a joint session of Congress, which in reality was another Obama sales pitch to promote votes for his drastic revision of health care for this country.

Obama was reiterating that illegals would not be covered in the plan and, apparently, Wilson had enough and shouted out that the statement was a lie.

The lawmaker who shouted "You lie!" at President Barack Obama during a speech to Congress called moves to censure him politically motivated, and vowed Sunday not to make a further apology.
Republican Congressman Joe Wilson has already apologized to the president -- and had that apology accepted -- but still faces possible censure if he fails to stand up and issue another one in the House of Representatives.

I'm a fighter for the freedoms of speech and religion. They are our constitutional rights – what the First Amendment is all about. But those freedoms don't give atheists the entitlement to eliminate or revise America's religious heritage in the new $621 million taxpayer-provided Capitol Visitors Center, or CVC, in Washington, D.C.

In July, the House and Senate passed identical resolutions, approving the engravings of the National Motto ("In God We Trust") and the Pledge of Allegiance in prominent places in CVC – 580,000 square feet facility under the Capitol where 15,500 guests visit each day.

Spearheading the measures were leaders like Rep. Daniel Lungren, R-Calif.; Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va.; and Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., who have also drawn attention to the oversight of religious heritage in the CVC. The YouTube video of Rep. Forbes addressing the House on this matter ("Our Judeo Christian Nation") has received to date more than 2.5 million hits, making it one of the most widely viewed floor speeches in YouTube history. Some of the 19 omissions and inaccuracies in the CVC can also be seen on Sen. DeMint's YouTube posting "War on God."
